Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology supplies new main switchboards to Dutch navy
16 July, 2020: Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology is making significant progress with an assignment via partner Damen Shipyards in Den Helder to supply four main switchboards to the Royal Netherlands Navy.
Our HQ on Urk has been busy with the design, engineering and construction of the panels which are being fitted on four dive support vessels to ensure their future deployment capacity. Piet Brouwer is also responsible for the electrotechnology work involved in installing new airco systems on the navy ships.
The project is being carried out in close cooperation with the Piet Brouwer office in Den Helder as they install the panels. Three are already onboard and commissioned, while the fourth switchboard is expected to be ready by the end of the year.
In addition to these activities for the Royal Netherlands Navy, Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology is involved with maintenance activities on the rest of the dive support fleet as well as various other Dutch government vessels. Three of the latter will have their major four-year survey in the coming six months for which Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology will carry out the required inspections and repairs where needed.
