22 february, 2019: The ‘eco’ bulk carriers Arklow Wave and Arklow Wind, built by the Ferus Smit yard in Groningen, have been launched in Leer, Germany.
Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology delivered the electrical system for these bulk carriers and is responsible for the full package of engineering, switchboards, bridge consoles, axle generators, thrusters, alarm systems and fire detection systems. Piet Brouwer also took care of the entire installation and commissioning process. The 149.5-metre vessels, with a beam of 19.4 metres and DWT of 16,500 tonnes, are the first two in a series of four.
