Selecting a future-proof power train is more challenging than ever in the current maritime landscape. In addition to various fuel options, the rapid rise of the emission-free company – in which self-unloading vessels must perform their operations entirely powered by shore power – is also contributing to this development. Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology has now developed a modular platform that allows shipbuilders and shipping companies to compose their own systems for the vessels of the future. A basic configuration involves an electrical or hybrid power train, to which they can then add various options such as battery buffers, gearless drive, zero-emission ports and a PBET efficiency boost.
For the automation of the energy generation and conversion, we have developed an energy and power management system with the high degree of reliability and ease-of-use for which our company is known. A Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology Propulsion Control System is provided for bridge control of the entire package, fully aligned to electric and hybrid sailing. The systems are all developed in-house in close consultation with the end users.
