The year 2025 got off to a good start for Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology as the company strengthened its collaboration with the Royal Bodewes shipyard following a new order for nine more hull numbers.

Having been commissioned for hull numbers 714, 715, 832 and 833 in 2024, Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology will now also supply the complete electrotechnical installations for a number of new vessels with electric propulsion. “These orders strengthen our already excellent partnership with Royal Bodewes,” comments PBE managing director Martin van Veen. Sales manager Mark Heldoorn agrees: “Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology has built up years of experience in electric and hybrid propulsion systems, with our R&D constantly at the forefront of innovation.”

Several of the new vessels will be equipped with all-electric propulsion based on a concept developed by Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology that enables economically efficient and low-cost operations. The system can also easily be expanded with a battery package or other types of emission-free energy sources.

In October 2024, Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology was commissioned for the installation of an 8500 DWAT hybrid vessel with cranes for shipping company UAL and a 6800 DWAT diesel-electric vessel for shipping company Tasman. In early January 2025 it added another seven electrotechnical installations to its order list: two vessels for shipping company Lehmann, copies of the recently delivered Marie Lehmann, the delivery of a second vessel for shipping company Pot from Delfzijl, and, last but not least, the installation of an electric power train for four cement tankers for Eureka Shipping.

Meanwhile, Royal Bodewes hull number 810 was recently launched and the RoRo ferry Hawaikinui 2 is currently in her final stage of construction. The latter is due to be delivered to the client in April before starting operations around the islands of French Polynesia.
Over 20 vessels have been delivered to the full satisfaction of the yard since the start of the partnership between Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology and Royal Bodewes in 2018.
