Piet Brouwer provided a high-voltage substation for the power supplied from the grid operator, which feeds a 1000 kVA transformer \\u2013supplied and installed by Piet Brouwer Elektrotechnology \\u2013 via a high-voltage cable.<\\\/p>\\n<p>A dry, virtually maintenance-free, fireproof transformer without oil was chosen for this application.\\u00a0The transformer has been placed close to the largest consumer \\u2013 the cooling system \\u2013 and positioned centrally in the\\u00a0building. This allows short cables to be used, minimising energy losses. As all the available electrical capacity was already in use, the expansion required a technical upgrade. In addition, because the location of the planned expansion still contained the existing transformer station, this had to be moved.<\\\/p>\\n<p>Project manager Gerrit Barends suggested realising a new transformer station within the technical area, in proximity to the heaviest loads. Van der Lee accepted the proposal, and the new transformer station with an energy-efficient and low maintenance transformer has now been supplied and installed.<\\\/p>\\n<p>Due to fact that the project involved a fish processing company, it was decided to use an oil-less cast resin transformer: any leakage from an oil-fuelled transformer during a calamity would be disastrous for the processing of food products.<\\\/p>\\n<p>To distribute the capacity of the new transformer over the existing systems and the new expansion, Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology supplied and installed a new main distribution unit as well. Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology advised Refresco to purchase this transformer instead of resorting to the usual solution of renting one, as the former would be economically more advantageous.<\\\/p>\\n<p>In addition, Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology supplied and installed a form 4A low voltage switchboard, including cable ducts and cables \\u2013 naturally in compliance with the requirements that apply within the food and beverage industry.
