After training as a first electrician and working at a shipyard for ten years, Kevin has been an electrician at Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology for the past three years. He is responsible for the electrical installations in all spaces and cabins as well as commissioning the systems.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kevin\u2019s working day always starts with a coffee but everything else varies. \u201cSome days we lay cables, others we connect equipment or commission systems. We also regularly make adjustments together with the interior builders of the yacht on which we\u2019re working.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a decade working at a yard, Kevin is still getting used to the many new faces around him. \u201cI also had to learn a new \u2018lingo\u2019 and work methods. My activities are also entirely different to what I was used to, although I think I\u2019ve gotten the hang of it now. Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology is a friendly family business and I love working here.\u201d Kevin adds that the sense of solidarity between employees is one of the most unique aspects. \u201cWe also enjoy spending time together outside of work. Many of my colleagues are in the same age bracket as me, making it all the more fun to work with them.\u201d

Kevin has found working on the superyacht PHI<\/a>  to be an exceptional experience. \u201cAlthough this is the first and only project I\u2019ve worked on thus far for Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology, it involves one of the most stunning yachts I\u2019ve seen in my entire career.\u201d

Working on PHI<\/em> has been special to Kevin for another reason too: \u201cWhile finishing our activities onboard the yacht in London I glanced at the camera screen in the crew mess during a break and saw a Dutch Navy vessel right behind us. To my great surprise, I saw on the deck a former neighbour of mine who\u2019d been working for the Navy for years. I took a photo of the screen and sent it to him, but unfortunately it didn\u2019t make it through the Navy\u2019s firewall.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
