MS Abis Esbjerg

MS Abis Esbjerg was completed and handed over to her owner, shipping company Abis Shipping from Harlingen, on 19 June 2015. The ship was built and finished entirely in Szczecin in Poland by the Polish subsidiary of the CIG Shipbuilding yard in Groningen (NL). Abis Esbjerg is the fourth in a series of six vessels for which Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology has delivered the electrical system.

Abis Esbjerg is the latest vessel in a series of six mini heavy lifters with cranes and a forward wheelhouse built by CIG Shipbuilding. Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology has already delivered the electrical systems for the previous vessels in the series, Atlantic Dawn, Arctic Dawn and Indian Dawn, all of which were finished in the port of Urk. Abis Esbjerg was finished in Szczecin, and engineers from Piet Brouwer therefore spent several months in this attractive Polish port city.

The vessel can deploy a maximum speed of 17 knots and has two cargo cranes, each of which can lift 150 tonnes. This makes Abis Esbjerg ideally suited for worldwide transport of special, heavy loads. The vessels from the series have a carrying capacity of 4,400 DWT, a length of 112 metres and a beam of 16.8 metres. Since the wheelhouse is forward and Abis Esbjerg has an open top notation, she can also take on larger cargoes without compromising the view from the wheelhouse.

Abis Esbjerg was finished in Poland within the agreed delivery time and has successfully passed her sea trials in Szczecin. She sailed on her own steam to Harlingen and transferred to the satisfied owner.
