We specialise in the realisation of turn-key projects for electrotechnical installations. To us, it makes perfect sense that our clients prefer to have a single highly experienced point of contact for their ship’s or company’s entire electrical system. We combine our decades’ worth of expertise with the highest quality of service – in every corner of the world. Piet Brouwer Elektrotechniek’s installations meet the highest quality standards and we work together closely with the classification agencies of Bureau Veritas, Lloyd’s Register, RINA and DNV GL.

Organisation

Piet Brouwer Elektrotechniek employs circa one hundred people who operate around the world out of our offices in Urk, Den Helder, Harlingen and Palma de Mallorca. Our head office is located on Urk and includes the design department, engineering, management, panel development and a large warehouse. This means Piet Brouwer Elektrotechniek can take care of the entire process in house. We have a flat organisational structure with short lines of communication between design and execution. For our clients, that means they can easily get in touch with the right person whenever they call. Our company is characterised by its no-nonsense attitude, flexibility, tailor-made solutions and fast service.

History

In May of 1961, Piet Brouwer started out as an independent entrepreneur on the former island of Urk, which has a strong connection to the local fishing industry. His first client gave him an ultimatum: either you do it or we will find someone else. With some help, Piet ultimately took the leap. “It is as much about making money as it is about helping each other. That lets you build relationships with your satisfied clients,” the company’s founder – who has since passed – used to say. Today, almost sixty years later, the next generation runs the company, which now operates on a global scale and whose team of hard-working professionals is standing by to go to work for its clients day and night.

In the spotlight: electrician Kevin Lassche

After training as a first electrician and working at a shipyard for ten years, Kevin has been an electrician at Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology for the past three years. He is responsible for placing cables in all spaces and cabins as well as commissioning electrical systems onboard.

In the spotlight: Jan Bakker, a talented electrician in training

17 May 2023

Jan Bakker worked for a large trader in deep-frozen fish products before starting at Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology. Missing working with his hands, when a good friend told Jan about PBE he knew this was the path for him. Jan has since been at Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology for two years training as an electrotechnical systems technician on various maritime and yachtbuilding projects. He is currently busy at Royal Bodewes shipyard in Hoogezand on the second coaster of a series of seven for which Piet Brouwer is responsible for the design, realisation and installation of the electrical systems.

After finishing his initial education in electrotechnology, Lourens Schaak immediately continued a follow-up course as Engineering Technician level 4. In August 2013 he came to Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology as an intern during his third year of college. Both parties valued the working relationship so much that Lourens also completed his final fourth year internship with us, and was immediately hired as an electrician after graduation.

It was around 20 years ago that the father of Pieter Ras, who also used to work at Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology as an engineer, tipped off his son about a vacant position at the company. Pieter had just finished his technical school (LTS) studies and immediately started work as an engineering apprentice. He soon became an engineer in his own right, then a service engineer, and a decade ago he was appointed to a managerial position in the Industry & Residential Housing department.
