Piet Brouwer has started work on a new sailing yacht, the Contest 72. The project was commissioned by Contest Yachts, a renowned Dutch yard which delivers a variety of yachts every year. Size has been increasingly in demand in recent years, and it had become complex for the yard to take care of steering and installation on the larger yachts by itself. Contest Yachts went looking for a reliable partner and – thanks to our good reputation and long experience in yachts – chose Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology and Marble Automation.
Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology conceived and designed the entire technical system for the yacht, which we are also installing. All cables and panels will be supplied by us ready to install. The Marble steering system will be delivered fully pre-programmed, making for a flexible and reliable steering with very quick processing. Power will be provided largely by 24 volt lithium-ion batteries with twin generators of 11 kW each, controlled and monitored by the Marble system.
The 72-foot sailing yacht is slated for delivery in the spring of 2015. For details of the electrical systems onboard, see link
